On attention

I can sit in a park and look at flowers or plants for a long time, longer than most people would probably find normal. I end up looking at the leaves, the texture, the different shades of green, the small details you only notice when you actually stay with it.
It’s a very specific way of looking. You either do it, or you don’t.

And it’s the same thing that happens at Museum Plantin-Moretus.
The botanical drawings there are so precise that you can’t really look at them quickly. If you walk past them the way we usually do, you don’t really see much. If you take the time, you start noticing every little detail.

It’s not really about the drawings, it’s more about where your attention goes and how quickly you decide whether something is worth it or not. With Love, Sofie
