Notes from the Bach Centre

It still feels surreal to write these words. I finally visited the Bach Centre! Hidden in the quiet English countryside, this little house in Mount Vernon is where Dr. Edward Bach once lived and created his flower remedies. Visiting in the fall meant there were no blossoms in the garden, yet the place still felt alive with quiet beauty. The trees were turning golden, and there was a soft stillness in the air, as if the garden was resting.

The whole place felt calm and pure. I spent hours looking at the Polaroids of Bach’s blossoms, studying every petal and every tiny note of color. Even the smallest details in his home felt alive with his spirit: soft light pouring through old windows, shelves lined with bottles and tinctures, a sense of purpose in every corner.

What I’ve always loved about the Bach Flower Remedies is their simplicity. The flowers are picked at their most vibrant and then placed in clear bowls of spring water, left to rest under the sun so the water absorbs their gentle energy. It’s such a pure and intuitive process, sunlight, water, and nature coming together to create something that heals on an emotional level.

My connection to the remedies started when I was a child. My mom used to give me Rescue drops whenever I had an important test or something stressful at school. It became our little ritual, a quiet moment of comfort that always made things feel a bit lighter.

Now, as an adult, they’ve become part of my daily rhythm. I often use Elm, Oak, and Impatiens. Elm helps when I feel overwhelmed by everything I need to do, Oak reminds me to rest and not push beyond my limits, and Impatiens brings back patience and softness when life feels rushed.

I usually add a few drops to my morning tea (making sure the tea isn’t boiling hot so the essence stays pure) or to my water bottle so I can sip them throughout the day. Sometimes I place a drop directly under my tongue when I need an instant sense of calm. It’s such a simple ritual and it feels deeply nurturing.

Visiting the Bach Centre made me feel so grateful, as if I had reconnected with something very pure and true. If you’ve ever felt drawn to the Bach remedies, I hope you explore them too... With Love, Sofie
